A solid colour area is a printed surface in a single, even, homogeneous shade. It is printed without halftone screen, to obtain a uniform colour. It is the opposite of a gradient. For printing fabrics, screen printing excels at solids: the ink goes through the screen in a regular coat and covers the fabric well.
Fabric finishing (or finishing treatment) is the treatment a textile undergoes to give it its final quality. It can make the fabric smoother, waterproof, stain-resistant or fire-resistant. It can also enhance its shine. This is the last step before the fabric is ready to be made into a product. Depending on the intended use, a fabric with a specific finish may be needed; for example, a bag for swimwear.
