Screen printing process
Screen printing is based on the stencil principle. A screen is used, on which a very fine mesh fabric is stretched (originally silk). The screen is coated with a photosensitive emulsion, then partly covered with a mask before being exposed to light. The exposed areas harden and block the ink; the masked areas stay open, and the ink passes through them onto the substrate.
